The town was nearly shut down, with only a supermarket open. The place itself was awful: filthy, with a squeaky, uncomfortable bed, smelly pillows, and sheets I didn't dare sleep under. The couch was broken and sloped so badly that sitting on it was uncomfortable. There was no breakfast, either. We left before the second night and didn't even try to get a refund for it. I'll never go back.

For a small town, this place gives me what I need. The rooms are clean, the rates are reasonable, the TV works, and breakfast items are included. That's plenty to make me happy. Some of the one-star reviewers seem to expect luxury.

We got in after 9 pm, and the snacks they’d left in the kitchen were a big help. The rooms were clean, and I really like having a small kitchen so I can cook when I don't feel like eating out. It felt peaceful inside, with an open space that made it easy for a small family to relax and feel at home. Don’t let the outside appearance put you off.

We were in unit #3 over July Fourth weekend in 2020, arriving at 12:38 am Saturday. Before we got there, Becky the manager was very responsive. Once the noise from the unit above kept us awake all night, though, we couldn't reach her. We tried again Saturday evening and Sunday morning because the noise continued, and still got no reply three days later. The air conditioner worked in only one bedroom. The place was somewhat clean, but the windows looked as if they hadn't been washed in years. There was no regular TV, only Netflix, and no one available to address our concerns. Breakfast was listed as included, but all we got was a dozen eggs with no spatula or utensils. Local shop owners said the units were rented to drug addicts who stayed up all night, and said they couldn't believe we'd stayed. That would explain the noise, though it doesn't excuse the lack of response. I truly believe the establishment is writing its own reviews. I wouldn't recommend Suites on Main unless they clean up their act. You'd be better off in a tent.

Getting in at night was a problem. The entryway had no light, so bring a phone flashlight, and the paint was peeling off the concrete. The suites weren't clearly marked either, and on my first night people trying to check into the room next door banged ferociously on my door. There were no instructions for locking up, so I had to work that out myself. I was here for a wedding and needed to hang clothes, but there were no hangers, only hooks high up on the wall that were hard for a short person to reach. In the kitchen there was just one tin cup, which I couldn't use to microwave water, though there were plenty of glasses. The room had sugary things labeled as breakfast, none of which I'd eat, and no local takeout menus, so I had to figure out food myself. Luckily, a grocery store around the corner let me buy food I could safely eat. There was one washcloth but plenty of towels, though family members in another room had no bath towels at all. The building apparently flooded, something locals know about. I'd already guessed from the uneven floors rippling beneath the carpet, which nearly made me trip several times, and the slightly musty smell. At dinner last night, another wedding guest and I independently came up with the same name for the place: The Bates Motel.
