We used Uber and Waymo to get around, and Waymo was an awesome experience. Most major places were fairly easy to reach from the hotel. We came to Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina del Rey with 50 ice hockey fans and had a great time. We’d come back in a heartbeat. The rooms were spotless and a welcome place to rest after hockey and sightseeing, and the TVs on-site let us catch the latest games. Breakfast was delicious each morning, and the waitstaff stayed attentive even with such a large group. A big shoutout to the bartender, who stayed open late just for us and made sure we were looked after. We made sure his tip jar was well fed! 😜 Thanks for the hospitality.

The bar and restaurant were a fun place to hang out, and the menu was huge and varied. I met lots of locals who eat there too because they know the restaurant is good. You get Hilton benefits, but this isn’t a Hilton restaurant. I spent a week here, and the place was fabulous from start to finish. It’s been redone recently and was kept very clean and fresh. It was close to everything I needed, and having bike rental right at the front door was incredible. I rented one for an hour or two every morning, which was exhilarating. I’ll stay here whenever I come to Los Angeles!
The rooms were nice and clean, and the pool and hot tub were well maintained. The location is great too. But parking costs $52 a night, plus there’s a mandatory $34 nightly “destination fee” for things like WiFi, coffee, bike rentals, and kayak rentals. That’s a rip-off.
The hotel is right on the beach, and we loved the location. But I wouldn’t stay again because of how they handled payment. At check-in they ran my card for the full amount plus incidentals, which was fine. At checkout, while the first hold was still pending and wouldn’t clear for 3-5 days, they wanted to charge my cards again. We weren’t warned we’d need $1,800 upfront, even knowing half would come back. What if I’d budgeted $1,000 for the hotel? Why hold $900 at check-in and then make me pay another $900 so you can refund the first one? It made no sense. The staff couldn’t explain it and just said they weren’t sure what I wanted them to do. I wanted them to run the original $900 they’d already put on hold.
The marina view made for a relaxing, distinctive setting, and I had a fantastic stay at the Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina del Rey. Hee Sung gave me outstanding care when I arrived and offered a complimentary upgrade through my Titanium Elite status, which made the stay even better. The restaurant staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly every time I interacted with them. I’d gladly stay here again and recommend the hotel.
