SpringHill Suites The Dunes On Monterey Bay

The walkable setting was a highlight, with food and general shopping nearby in a newer development that’s thoughtfully laid out and looks beautiful. I stayed at SpringHill Suites by Marriott The Dunes on Monterey Bay in early December, my first time at a SpringHill Suites, and the property really impressed me. It feels modern, and the rooms are nicely designed and equipped, comfortable while still practical. There was space to work, relax, and settle in, which made it well suited to a stay of several nights. DiDi at the front desk was especially warm and personable. The whole stay went beyond what I expected and has set a high standard for future SpringHill Suites visits.

Use the 2nd Ave entrance when driving in or out. The traffic light there makes getting through the complex safer and quicker than using the other exits. The SpringHill Suites at The Dunes is a good option for this area, with very clean rooms and a shopping center within walking distance. Our room had a fridge and microwave, but the microwave’s rotating plate was the wrong size and wouldn’t turn properly. There’s a sofa bed, though housekeeping doesn’t make it up, so you’ll need to do that yourself or ask staff for help. Free hot coffee and tea are available in the lobby, and the hotel feels clean and modern. We could hear a lot of footsteps from the guests above us, as the floors don’t seem very well soundproofed.

I’ve stayed here every week for business for the past 4.5 years. My company offers other choices, but the people, service, location, fresh coffee and breakfast each morning, and quality rooms keep bringing me back. It’s the only hotel where I can come down at 5:00 AM for fresh, HOT COFFEE and have someone greet me by name. Burlie makes my mornings great, and the front desk staff are always welcoming and make me feel at home.

We travel a lot for business and pleasure and have Titanium status with Marriott, but I’d probably skip this hotel if we return to the area. The first-floor room was a new experience for us, and it was very noisy. We could hear toilets flushing upstairs and next door, cars starting in the lot, and just about everything through the walls. Housekeeping came every other day, which we hadn’t been told. The room itself was spacious and nice, but very dark, like every bulb was only 25 watts. We weren’t impressed.
