Riverfront Inn Hotel

There were kids playing hockey in the hallway with sticks and goals when we reached our floor. The shouting and running had already been audible in the elevator. The room smelled like a boys’ locker room mixed with a damp cellar, and the entryway rug was wet all the way across, up to the bed. My socks got soaked whenever I walked there or toward the bathroom. The bathroom smelled strongly of musk and mold, so we kept its door shut the whole stay. The beds were clean, thankfully, but really uncomfortable. There were two large bubbles in the ceiling above the heater and window, with holes through the middle, clear signs of old water damage. We skipped breakfast and left as soon as we got up. I told the staff about the wet floor at checkout. Check-in itself had gone well, and the staff member was helpful and friendly.

The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, and our room was clean, though it needed several repairs. The building was excessively cold throughout. The front desk staff were personable and great. Housekeeping was questionable, though: the two workers we encountered, one in the hallway and one in the elevator, smelled of marijuana and body odor.

We paid extra for a river view, and it was nice. Breakfast was good, and there seemed to be plenty of parking. Jerry at the desk was very welcoming, friendly, and informative. The hotel is in a nice spot. We were away and didn’t get a chance to eat dinner at the restaurant, but I’d definitely try the French onion soup.

EDIT: I contacted the manager using the number she posted in her reply. She listened and was accommodating, helping make things right and address what happened. We appreciate her stepping up and giving great customer service. Thank you. When we checked in, the staff member put us on the sixth floor in a room with the door left open, food out, and towels scattered around. It was unsettling, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I went back downstairs to sort it out, and she just said, “Oh well, sorry.” The rooms are older and falling apart in places, and there was no AC in the elevator or hall. We went two days without anyone tidying the room, replacing towels, or emptying the trash. When I called the front desk, there was no one on staff to help. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. If you don’t want to regret paying $130 a night for a place that isn’t maintaining its property or handling staffing issues, stay down the street at the American Inn.
