Marinette Inn

The rooms were freezing, and the power kept tripping the breakers, apparently because of poor wiring. Management and service were very bad. Honestly, I'd never stay there again.

The fridge was moldy, noisy, and had a lot of bits inside it. The stove was supposedly new, but one side had a huge dent and the oven door seal was missing. In the bathroom, the toilet and tub hadn't been caulked, they'd been done with power grab. The so-called maintenance guy was a joke, and big wood screws stuck up from the cabinets. The heat vents had never been cleaned, so we cleaned them ourselves in our room. Housekeeping ought to know how to do laundry, but it smelled as if it hadn't been done in years. Marinette PD refused to help anyone staying here when we had issues with people speeding down the alley and restaurant patrons blocking our vehicle.

There are some good points: check-in was friendly, the area was great, and it was nice to drive right up to the room. The vinyl flooring looked fairly new, and there was a microwave and fridge. But here's what travelers should know, and the operator should address as deferred maintenance. A train horn sounded in the middle of the night for about five minutes. The in-room heater sounded like a rocket launching, and the TV was only audible when it was off. The mattress sagged at the sides but stayed firm at the ends. Bedding started with plastic wrap under a polyester bottom sheet, plus another sheet and a very thin comforter. That plastic made the night hot. Smoke detectors were missing or disconnected, and ours was off the wall with no battery. The aging outlets were loose enough that phone chargers fell out, and they were awkwardly located. There was no table or other surface to work or eat at, so you could store and cook food but would have to sit on the bed or toilet to eat it. No coffee or coffee maker, either. The black shower curtain made the bathroom cave-like by blocking most of the light. All the drains were missing covers. We found garbage behind furniture while looking for outlets, and there was just one tiny, one-gallon trash can. The grout under the sink was clean and white, while elsewhere it was strikingly black and grimy. There was only one kind of curtain on the window, so letting in natural light meant being visible, while choosing privacy meant losing the light.

The prices were nice, the staff were very friendly, and our stay has been quite enjoyable. The woman at the counter with the Southern sounding voice was especially kind. The rooms are small but clean and pleasant, and the beds are warm and firm without being uncomfortable. I could have used newer, more comfortable pillows. Our TV/DVD player remotes didn't work, but we didn't need them. The WiFi was solid and fast.
