Extended Stay America Select Suites - Ogden

I’ve been living at the Extended Stay hotel in West Haven, Utah since March 1, 2025, about 10 months now. I don’t have a car, so being able to use the local bus makes this a really convenient location for me. I feel safe here and enjoy living here. The staff are friendly and hospitable. Lisa Switzler, the GM, is so sweet and professional, almost like a mother here. I appreciate how committed she is. This place deserves five stars.

We paid for a night and ended up leaving without staying. The front desk staff were unbelievably rude throughout. We’d already provided our booking information, but they demanded far too much more. There were no complimentary items, and they were unpleasant about every question. The room had no shampoo or conditioner, and the body bar had already been opened and used. We’d told the desk that friends were coming by but wouldn’t stay overnight, yet they made a big issue of the visit. The vending machines and laundry room didn’t work or take our cash either. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Don’t go unless you want to pay for a terrible experience.

My room was clean, quiet, and felt very safe. There’s a little restaurant and a coffee shop across the street, plus a convenience store nearby. If you don’t want to cross over for coffee, the ladies in the office make a pretty good cup. Summer and Lisa at the front desk were wonderful and helpful from check-in through checkout. I’ve stayed in quite a few hotels, and this one made me feel at home. They’d ask how my day was when I came back, and it felt like they really cared whether I’d had a rough day. When you travel alone a lot, that means a lot. They were accommodating throughout. I’d recommend this hotel 10/10.

For a bargain-priced room, having a burner and a full-size fridge was a nice surprise. It still smelled a bit like cigarettes, but at this price I can’t expect too much, especially compared with worse and more expensive places. I’m really grateful to the kind housekeeper who let me borrow diapers to wrap the presents I’d left until too late on Christmas Day. I wish I’d gotten her name so I could give her credit for saving me. The hotel is close to the Pilot gas station, which is like a super gas station with anything you might need, and right by the freeway, so the location is great.
