It was tough to leave, and we’re already hoping to come back. Marshall’s community spirit is easy to feel even as the town continues recovering from Hurricane Helene, and its lovely shops are open. At the hotel, the staff, restaurant team, and other guests were all warm and helpful. We used keyless entry to let ourselves in, and Zadie’s downstairs got us delicious food quickly after a day out. The patio and deck had plenty of places to sit, cozy heaters, and a stunning view of the French Broad River. Our rooms were comfortable, with cozy beds and everything we needed. The Old Marshall Jail Hotel also gives you a real sense of the building’s past, with original features and preserved relics that made it feel like we were part of the town’s story. Thank you for the hospitality, Josh!! - Nichole & Tania

The reflection space had a fun detail, decorating bricks, and it was another thoughtful touch. We also liked how parts of the old jail were reused, like the radiators turned into fencing and cell bars made into planters, plus that orange shower curtain that calls to mind a prison jumpsuit. The loft was roomy and comfortable, and so was our room. Staff were friendly, fun, and accommodating. Marshall is a lovely town with welcoming people and a couple of really good restaurants. We loved our nights at the Old Marshall Jail Hotel and recommend both it and a visit to Marshall, NC.

The deck at the hotel is a great place to sit with a beer and watch the river. We found the design beautiful, with a real sense of place, and the stay was relaxing, welcoming, and memorable. Keyless entry was simple, and our room had plenty of local products. I’d highly recommend stopping here while visiting Asheville or sightseeing in the blue ridge mountains.

I could have watched the river from the Sheriff Suite for hours. The town felt quaint and progressive, and everyone we met was friendly. It was hard to leave, and I wish we’d stayed longer. Marshall is rebuilding after hurricane damage, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues to progress. A must visit. We loved our stay at the Old Marshall Jail Hotel, and the history is amazing.

The guest-only deck overlooking the French Broad River was everything, especially sitting in the sun. The suites are huge and full of character, and all the preserved documents displayed throughout are especially cool. We ended up wanting to stay in rather than explore the rest of Marshall. My husband and I came for an anniversary staycation after I’d watched the place get renovated from the ground up twice. I’d always wanted to stay here. It’s amazing to feel so relaxed and far away when home is only 20 minutes away. If you’re around Asheville and want a little magic off the beaten path, stay here. Every detail feels thoughtful and cool.
