Travelodge by Wyndham Marston

For a night passing through on a road trip, this motel was totally fine. It got very hot in the room before we arrived, but the AC was great: it cooled things down in about 30-45 minutes and stayed cold all night. The shower was hot with amazing water pressure, and the bed was much more comfortable than I expected. Sheets and towels were clean, and the place felt clean apart from an old couch. The front desk were very nice, and mentioned new ownership and lots of renovations, which you can see. It's a nice little motel, and by far the best option in this odd, tiny town. The only problem was the door, which didn't seem very secure and should be replaced soon. If you're wondering which motel to choose here, this one, 100%.

The front desk people were very nice, but it looks like no reinvestment has gone into the place. It's bad, like it's rotting from the inside out: the TV doesn't work, there's no toilet paper, and there are mold, cracks, and stains all over the sink.

The staff were very accommodating, and I'd stay again. For a two-star hotel, it was very nice, with a modest room and some surprising amenities: a mini-fridge and microwave. There were a few disappointments, though. The large decorative mirror in the bedroom was pretty dusty, and the pillows had cobwebs or something like that on them, which was a bit questionable. Aside from that, there was just some chipping in the tub.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the price was super affordable. My son and I needed somewhere to crash after driving all day. We were only a little over two hours from home, but, you know kids, he was tired of the car seat and loves staying in motels. For what we needed, it fit perfectly: a bed and a hot breakfast. It's not the Hilton, but I didn't expect that.
