The Wi-Fi at Super 8 was steady enough for both my phone and the desktop we brought along, which was a big help when I didn't want to burn mobile data. The place was quiet most of the time, though a neighbor's dog would bark for a few seconds now and then, so that probably depends on who you end up next to. My mom and I stayed for a couple of weeks while our next home was getting ready. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the shower enough to use it three times during our stay. Best of all, there were no cockroaches. We'd dealt with them in motels before, so it was a relief to be somewhere that wasn't infested. Super 8 was clean and felt somewhat luxurious to me. If you're staying in Martinsburg and can afford a room here, I'd choose it over the nearby options. I've heard APM has a terrible cockroach problem now.

I was about 700 miles away after checkout when I realized I'd left my driver's license at the front desk. I called right away, and the manager found it and mailed it to me without hesitation. That was a huge relief, and I'd happily stay here again on future drives from New York to Florida. I needed a handicap room with a second room next door. The manager worked around some obstacles to arrange that, and they also easily accommodated my request for a pet-friendly stay. Everyone I dealt with was polite and professional. I usually expect very little from hotels right off the highway and feel lucky if the sheets are clean. This place surprised me: it was clean, comfortable, and good quality for the price. The room smelled freshly cleaned when I walked in. I checked under the sheets and blankets for bed bugs or roaches, as I usually do, and found none. The sheets and pillowcases were soft and smelled clean, and I slept like a baby, which isn't typical for me when traveling. I'd give it six stars if I could.

The room was dirty when I checked in. There were things left on the floor and under the bed from the previous guest, and the sheets had holes and burn marks while the fitted sheet was ripped. I asked the front desk for replacements, but the set they gave me was also torn and full of holes. The room had a very strong, unpleasant smell. I was exhausted from the trip and just wanted to sleep. I work nights and sleep during the day, but construction started near my room two days after I arrived. No one told me at check-in that work was planned. Had I known, I would have chosen another hotel. They were breaking walls and putting in tubes and pipes, then replacing a sheet of wall. I called the lobby and was told it would take a little while, but the work went on all day and continued throughout the week I stayed. I have videos and pictures of it, and I couldn't get proper rest. They never came to clean my room, so I had to ask at the front desk for fresh towels, toilet paper, and soap. Breakfast was included, but there was no choice: you asked the desk, and staff brought up a muffin, a mini water bottle, a Juicy Juice carton, and whatever flavors they put in a brown paper takeout bag. You couldn't choose the items or flavors. At check-in, staff weren't at the desk, so you had to ring a bell for someone to come out. Worst hotel ever.

The neighborhood sounded like a racetrack all night, though I don't know the area well. Still, I was asleep by 11 p.m. and slept like a baby, lol. It's an older-style Super 8, and I wasn't expecting much. The guy at the desk was easy to talk to and got me checked in quickly. The room was pretty typical for Super 8, but clean, pleasant smelling, and everything worked. The quality was decent too.

I liked how clean the place was and found the staff professional, so for $75 a night I'd give it five stars for those things. The room itself gets four from me: it had a large fridge and microwave, plus an old TV with Xfinity, but could've used tissues and more coffee and tea, including sugar substitutes. There wasn't any construction when I stayed in early January 2025, so it was quiet and not messy. The lobby had hot water and free coffee every morning. They also offered a takeout breakfast with a juice box, a big muffin, and a fruit cup, though you have to ask for it.
