The staff made the unexpected overnight stop in St. Louis feel easy. Everyone we met was kind, even a housekeeper in the hall who asked how my day was going. A young man refilling breakfast supplies happily brought me more cream cheese when I asked, and never seemed put out. Our family got the last room large enough for us, Room 511 on the fifth floor, facing the airport. We loved watching the planes. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had several lighting options we enjoyed. We ate supper and breakfast outside in the little patio area, too. I've already told my husband I'd like to stay here again if we're back in St. Louis.
The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and nicely located near the airport. But the way the front desk employee treated us on arrival day, Feb 6, left us reluctant to come back. I'd checked in through the app the day before and picked the sixth floor because we had early mornings and wanted to avoid noisy neighbors above us. The digital key instead assigned a first-floor room beside the lobby, snack bar, and ice machine. When I called to ask about switching, he sighed and said nothing else in the hotel was available. Then he said there was a fifth-floor room, but couldn't move us because we were checked in already, even though we hadn't arrived. He eventually agreed to move us, but insisted we come to the desk for new keys because the app wouldn't work. He sounded annoyed through the whole conversation. He was also curt with my mother when she asked how parking payment worked, and she gave up after getting one-word answers. We heard him snap at another guest asking for clean towels, too. Travel can be exhausting, and a little kindness goes a long way. We didn't find it here.
Parking cost an extra $20 per day, but the area was convenient and we had no problems getting around. We'd stay here again when visiting. Our family of four liked the pool, which was a good size for the kids, and breakfast was included, with the usual hot items, waffle maker, sweets, and cereal. The hotel, or at least our floor, seemed recently renovated. The hallway still smelled of fresh paint or carpet. We enjoyed our stay at the Hampton Inn St Louis Airport.
May 1, 2026: at check-in, the front desk employee, a white woman with no teeth, gave us keys to a room that was already occupied. When we went back, she said her manager would comp the parking because of the mix-up. The next room had an AC unit that made a loud, cat-screaming sound all night. We recorded it and showed the manager at the desk the following morning, May 2, a young Black woman. She said they would comp our stay for the inconvenience. We were only there one night for a wedding next door at the Hilton. The desk manager wrote the hotel's direct number on a card and told us to have Priceline, where we booked, contact her. Priceline reached out within 20 minutes of our leaving, but suddenly no one at the hotel knew what was going on. We never got a refund or compensation. My apologies to the HILTON nextdoor, I accidentally put this review under them at first.
Getting back to the hotel from the airport was miserable. We waited more than an hour for the shuttle while watching other parking lot shuttles go by. It was cold and raining, too. My husband called the hotel twice, and no one told us to look for the Hilton shuttle, even though we'd parked at the Hampton. Parking access was awkward from the start. At 4 a.m., in the dark, nobody was in the lobby to let me in so I could get access to the lot. Luckily another guest eventually came through and let me inside. Then I had to call the front desk number several times before anyone came to the desk. We won't use them again.
