The main hotel seems to be nice and clean, my wife says, and we liked the breakfast. The front desk woman was very helpful and pleasant, though there was only so much she could do with what she had. Our stay was in the annex, and that was a different story. If you’re booked there for an extended stay, cancel and look elsewhere if you can. There aren’t many options nearby. My wife had stayed a couple of times this past year with our daughter while visiting Northwest after she was accepted, and those stays were in the remodeled section. She enjoyed them. This time we were moving our daughter in. I’d called the hotel directly well in advance for two rooms for five people. When we arrived, only two king rooms were available. I asked why our rooms weren’t there, and was told the computer showed a booking through booking.com, which my wife hadn’t made. We accepted rooms in the annex because it was late and we’d driven five hours for move-in the next day. Both rooms were on the first floor. The extended-stay hallway smelled like a mix of all sorts of food people had cooked, in a bad way. In the first room, the TV wouldn’t work. The desk attendant tried to help but couldn’t fix it, and offered us a second-floor room instead. That one smelled like a musty gym bag. My wife and I got headaches from the odor, so we had to sleep with the window open.

The comfortable bed was the biggest surprise. I slept so deeply I’d have made it to 11 a.m. if I hadn’t set an alarm. The room was colorful and nicer than I expected, and check-in was quick. I’d had a bad stay at the Holiday Inn across the street a couple of weeks earlier, and expected hard beds and thin walls because that’s often been my experience at local places, including Holiday Inns. I got to breakfast at 9:55, just before it ended at 10, and everything had already been cleared away. I don’t usually eat breakfast anyway, and the juice machine was still on, so I got my usual orange juice. That worked out fine. Check-out was easy too. I’d stay here again. The room was spacious, with comfortable beds and pillows and everything we needed. LaDean had it cleaned and all set when we arrived, and everyone on staff was kind and helpful. We also enjoyed the coffee and the excellent breakfast service. We were especially glad our sister suggested Bearcat Inn. They let our very big fur baby “Henry” come along when most other places wouldn’t, and adding an extra night when we decided to extend was easy. We’ll consider staying here again.

We stumbled on this place at a good price for a stopover. The staff were nice to deal with, and the breakfast area was kept up really well. We were here less than 12 hours and mostly slept, but the bed was comfy. Definitely recommend.
