Grand Pequot Tower At Foxwoods

We still had a good time with our group, especially at the carting race track and bowling alley, but getting settled was a mess. After the snowstorm, the valet area seemed short staffed. At check-in they gave us keys to our son's room, then the desk staff struggled to sort it out and we had to wait in line again. Our replacement room's door and the adjoining-room door were open, it smelled of marijuana, and there was an open water bottle in the fridge. The room was clean and nice, if a little dated. The toilet kept running, so I fixed it myself because I was too tired to deal with the desk again. The ice maker was broken too. Most restaurants and shops were closed, and the ones open were understaffed. Later, our son couldn't get into his room because he'd been checked out while they were checking us in. The front desk was confused again.

The bed issue was the last straw for me. One mattress was sinking in the middle even with nobody on it. When I mentioned at checkout that I might come back the following week if there were rooms with better beds, the associate said the beds aren't comfortable for heavy people. I'm not rail thin, but I'm not 200 pounds, and my 11-year-old certainly isn't heavy. I wasn't asking for compensation, just trying to decide whether to book again. After that comment, I'll stay somewhere that can support 225 pounds combined without risking back and neck pain. I'd already been frustrated by the pool information. I asked specifically about it when booking because we had a child with us, but only after I was charged did I learn children could use the pool only from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. That wouldn't have stopped the trip, but I should have been told before booking. Our family made an impromptu trip to the Grand Pequot hotel, and I've never regretted a trip so much.

I like Foxwoods and I'm going back, even if other people don't care for it. But the big corner suite, supposedly the best and most expensive room, wasn't worth the price, even on a Monday. The furniture was cheap and old, there was dust on it, the sheets felt stiff, and the decor was pretty bare. The room had a bar, but it wasn't stocked.

I slept incredibly well in the suite's king bed. The bedding was pulled so tight that the blankets almost felt weighted, and I woke up with far fewer aches and pains. Housekeeping deserves awards for making those beds, lol.
