Great Cedar Hotel at Foxwoods

The place felt run down, with cracked tiles and an awful shower. For what they charged, this was a low-rate room at a high-end price. The front desk employee who checked us in sent us to a casino where we could supposedly play and smoke, but casino staff said the whole facility is now non-smoking. Don't waste your time or money here. For that price, go to Vegas.

The rooms looked beat up, and the lighting was poor, with a lot of bulbs not working. The refrigerator was barely cool, almost room temperature, and it took more than 24 hours to get one that worked. Our TV remote was dead too, and it took a few hours to get another. We asked for extra pillows and never received them, even after asking housekeeping the next day. Meal carts sat in the hallway overnight until morning. I don't think the room was worth what we paid per night. The fire emergency door had been tampered with, and I couldn't tell if it would actually work.

I checked in around 4 p.m. Monday and turned both air conditioners in the suite all the way down. After eating and gambling, I came back around 10 to sleep, but the room was still about 85 degrees. I lay there for an hour or two, then got fed up, packed my things, and left because I couldn't sleep in that heat. I tried to stay, but the room just wouldn't cool off. Go to Mohegan Sun, it's much nicer.

There was a good range of places to eat, both in the hotel and a short walk away, from quick food to nicer dinners. The location inside the Foxwoods resort also made it easy to get to the casino and other attractions, and we had fun trying our luck and enjoying the lively atmosphere. Our room at the Great Cedar Hotel was roomy, quiet, and comfortable, and the hotel was well maintained. The staff were kind and professional. It made for a relaxing getaway, and we'd gladly choose it again when visiting Foxwoods.
