Matlacha on Shoreview

The one drawback for us was the location: Matlacha on Shoreview isn't really close to anything. That may be just what some people want, while others may feel the opposite, so I gave location 3 out of 5 stars. We had a very enjoyable week, though. Our place was comfortable and spotless, the beds were comfortable, the other guests were nice, nights were quiet, and the pool was pleasant. You can see the sun rise and set over the water with only a little walking. When we needed something, we could find Stacy in the morning or email her, and it would arrive the next day. We weren't sure whether to call it a hotel, resort, or short-term apartment; it has its own niche. Be sure to visit Maceli's Restaurant nearby for great food and country music every night. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay!

The area was peaceful, and both the room and resort were clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

The property is quiet, beautiful, and very well maintained, with a well kept pool and pool deck. It's on a residential street lined with huge, gorgeous homes, and has waterfront Gulf access, docks for boats, and kayaks. There's also a small beach with toys for kids, a tiki hut, and fishing rods for the dock, with gas grills nearby. We had a one-bedroom unit with a sofa bed and one bath, plenty of room for our local vacation in favorite Matlacha. The beds were super comfortable, we loved the furnishings, and the kitchen had everything we could want, plus an enormous stainless steel sink for dishes and cookware. Our condo's screened lanai came in handy for entertaining if it rained, though the weather was perfect. They offer quite a few amenities. A wonderful experience, highly recommend.

We'd stayed at this Matlacha on Shoreview property several times with the same registered service dogs under the previous owners and host, and always had a wonderful experience. Since the new ownership and host, Stacy, took over, things were completely different. Although we had prior approval to bring my registered service dogs, the host repeatedly lingered outside our door and watched us overnight and the next morning. When I stepped out briefly to get Benadryl for an allergic reaction, she called almost immediately and kept questioning us. We felt unsafe and unwelcome. We documented the property's condition when we left and left it clean. Because of the host's conduct, we can no longer recommend the property.
