Microtel Inn by Wyndham Matthews/Charlotte

We were treated badly from the moment we arrived at work at 3:00 AM. We faced racism. We only wanted to rest, but they put so much pressure on us that we had to leave early, even though we had paid for a late departure. We’re citizens of this country and will do everything we can to have our rights respected. We’ll notify the relevant authorities, including the franchise, and we’re sure this country will be great again without you.

I’ve been staying here when I come to town for three years, and employee Jack, a white man, has a problem with my room preference every time. I ask for a first-floor room, but he never gives me one and says he can’t change it. Once he leaves, I go back to the front desk and they switch me to the first floor right away. I’m African American, and I’m sure he has a problem with Black people. I’ve seen him give first-floor rooms to white and Mexican guests. Prejudice is unacceptable. Jack needs a reality check and shouldn’t treat paying customers this way. Because of prejudice from Jack, Microtel gets one star from me.

The breakfast was decent for what it was, mostly carbs, but with a good variety and decent coffee. If you only need a quick place to sleep, it may be okay. For a longer stay, I’d try another hotel in the area. The room was clean enough and moderately comfortable, but nearly everything was outdated or close to breaking. The handles on both the room door and bathroom door were loose, and the warped bathroom door made a loud noise that woke people up at night. The lighting was garish, and there were stains everywhere. The hallways and elevator smelled awful and felt so nasty I didn’t want to touch anything outside the room. What a dump.

Room 310 was small, but that was fine for a short stay. It was super clean and cozy, and the bed was so comfortable I slept really well. I booked with points but would’ve happily paid for it. The property was quiet, and the staff were very friendly.
