I’d avoid this place if you can. Even though it used to be a last resort for people trying to avoid a deposit, they’ve recently started requiring one for some rooms. Service was awful when I tried to complain: a staff member’s kids were banging on my door half an hour before checkout, and he acted like I was making it up, even though he couldn’t understand me. It seems family-run, with kids doing cleaning and similar tasks, and the cleanliness felt like a 14-year-old had been left to turn over the room. There was clothing left behind the bathroom door, burn holes in the sheets, soot on the walls, and every room smelled of smoke, even the non-smoking ones. Sometimes there are cups, sometimes there’s a full roll of toilet paper. No breakfast or anything else. They only rent out certain rooms despite having multiple buildings, and lately it’s given me Red Roof vibes. You get what you pay for, but they don’t respect customers’ opinions or seem to care how people feel.

I called to ask about room types, rates, and other details for a possible future visit, but never got to stay here. The man who answered hung up on me twice. On the first call I got through fewer than three questions before he cut me off mid-sentence. When I called back, he got loud and irritable, told me to look online when I said I had more questions, then hung up again while I was speaking. I told him he didn’t need to be rude and should work on his customer service. I hope other people have a better experience.

We only stopped for one night while passing through, and the stay turned out very well. The rooms were spacious, clean, and everything worked. There was a slight smell, which is common in this kind of hotel. We were satisfied, though I’d been worried after reading the reviews.

The bathroom was the biggest problem. It was really dirty, with black marks on the floor, and the shower looked as if it had only been rinsed between guests. We were assigned an accessible room with a wide bathroom doorway and a high toilet, but the grab bars were poorly placed: one behind the toilet and none at the side, plus three low ones in the shower. The shower was raised, so you had to step up to get in and back down to get out. You also couldn’t plug the tub for a bath. I took photos of the worst areas. There had clearly been plumbing repairs, and the patchwork was badly done. Some updates were nice, including the TV, but it blocked the three-quarter-length mirror. The desk was really a dining table, with an old stained office chair and a random coffee table we used for our bags. There was a fridge and microwave, but no coffee, and the customer lounge wasn’t open. The air conditioning worked, the bed was hard but clean enough for $60 a night, and more lighting and phone charging stations would have helped. We usually stay at the America's Best in Woodbury Commons and hoped this would compare. We won’t be back, even though it’s close to family.
