Super 8 By Wyndham Maumee Perrysburg Toledo Area

The room was spacious and clean, with a microwave, fridge, good lighting, a roomy desk and office chair, and reasonably quiet A/C. For the price, breakfast was decent too: bread, pastries, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. The coffee in the room was fine, but the breakfast coffee was watery by 9:00 AM, and other guests were complaining about it. I'd give the place about 4.5 stars, nearly perfect for its price range.

The room was fairly quiet and the A/C worked well, which were the bright spots. The bathroom looked very dated, and I couldn't tell how clean it was. The sheets were so worn and thin I could see through them in places. Breakfast wasn't available during my stay. They could offer bananas, apples, or yogurt if you asked at the front desk, but none of those work for me as breakfast. I'm very particular about cleanliness and accommodations, and I was glad I hadn't expected much.

The room felt dark, almost like a basement, and smelled awful as soon as we opened the door, like mold mixed with dirty rags. There were black hairs in the bathroom, odd stains on the walls, and black grime clogging the hairdryer. The A/C was filthy and blew out foul-smelling air. The place seemed neglected and unhygienic, with poor cleaning and maintenance throughout. It needs fresh paint, a deep clean of the rooms and especially the A/C units, and proper disinfection between guests. We weren't expecting much when we booked, but were still completely disappointed. I wouldn't recommend staying unless major improvements are made.

Toi at the front desk helped wheel my suitcase to the room, which made it much easier to manage my Walker, knees, and back. Two friendly women also came down to help me figure out the unfamiliar TV. The room was extremely clean and had a working microwave and refrigerator. The ice machine was out of order, and breakfast was still pretty minimal, though that's expected to change. It's a mid-range motel, and like many Super 8s, this location is being renovated. Finding it from the Toledo Zoo was a little awkward, but once there, it was close to restaurants, gas stations, and stores, with easy access to the Ohio Turnpike.
