OYO Hotel McAllen Airport South

Our first stay wasn’t awful, but we were only there one night. At check-in, the toilet was already clogged and wouldn’t flush, and there was a really unpleasant smell. They fixed the toilet and left us an air freshener. A couple months later we booked again for three nights, but the place didn’t feel right, so I canceled almost two months ahead. I got an email saying a refund was on its way, but the tracking details they gave me didn’t work and I couldn’t access it. I never got the money back. Completely unacceptable, 100% do not recommend. Update: They reply here, but when I contacted them directly, I never heard back. Horrible service.

I checked my dad in through an app, and he arrived right at 3, the check-in time. They made him wait 30 minutes, then when he came back, told him to wait another half hour. Meanwhile, people who arrived after him got checked in first. The front desk man was extremely rude and racist. The whole experience was horrible.

My mother eventually got checked in, but only after a lot of pointless arguing with the man at the desk, who was rude throughout. I’d booked and prepaid through the Booking app, putting her name in the guest field. She had the confirmation code and PIN, yet he insisted the reservation was under my name and wouldn’t look into it further. The hotel’s location and quality don’t excuse that treatment. I won’t book here again. Keep this in mind if you pay ahead for someone else.

The front desk woman made booking and check-in easy, and the service was good. The door kept sticking, though, and the toilet shifted around.
