McCloud Hotel

We’ve been here five times now, especially enjoying winter visits and the Mushroom Festival. It’s a relaxing place, and the food is excellent. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the Mount Shasta ski park, so it’s handy for winter activities while still feeling quiet and peaceful. Our room was clean, cozy, and welcoming, and our dogs love coming here. The hotel is wonderfully dog-friendly. It’s an old place with plenty of character and beautiful details. Some things are worn or out of order, but that comes with a living historic building. The owners seem to put their effort into cleanliness, comfort, and preserving its character. The fireplace is usually a highlight, though it’s waiting for repairs right now. The hotel still feels warm and comfortable for a winter stay. We’ll keep coming back.

Comfy place with lots of character. I wish room service were an option, since dinner was fully booked the night we stayed. The restaurant down the road was good, luckily.

Dogs can come along in the appropriate areas, and the service was friendly without being over the top. We enjoyed the good included breakfast and had a nice meal at Sage, the hotel restaurant. The rooms are rustic, comfortable, and charming, with eclectic furnishings throughout. McCloud Hotel is a beautiful property full of character and hospitality, even if I wouldn't call it quite a four-star hotel. We loved staying here and would recommend it.

McCloud is a lovely mountain town, with amazing scenery and atmosphere. The hotel stay, though, was disappointing and didn’t match what the website led us to expect. The room pictured there looked nothing like the one we got. Those photos seem to be from a long time ago and felt misleading. The hotel gave us a number to text for help, but our messages went unanswered. When we needed something, we had to go downstairs and find someone in the kitchen to ask.
