Horse Creek Inn

We come to McCook, NE for business four or five times a year, and Horse Creek Inn has been our regular choice. We always found it dependable and welcoming, and the former owners knew us when we arrived. Since the new owners took over, the service has been even better. On our latest trip, the electric tongue jack on our trailer would raise but wouldn't lower toward the hitch, so we couldn't attach it to the truck. We had an appointment soon and weren't sure what to do. The owner and his son immediately brought their own tools and got under the trailer to look at it. They kept at it until it was fixed and we could get back on the road. They never sent us to AAA or elsewhere, and made sure we weren't stranded in the parking lot. We're grateful for their help and will keep choosing Horse Creek Inn.

I've tried four hotels in McCook, and THE HORSE CREEK INN is easily my favorite. The young husband and wife who own it are go-getters and make you feel at home. The wife greeted me right away with a friendly, bubbly welcome, and her husband was just as welcoming and made sure I had what I needed. The rooms are nice, and the AC will freeze you out, which I loved. I honestly can't think of a complaint. I'd give it six stars if I could. The price is fair, not crazy high, and weekly or monthly rates make sense if you're staying that long. Restaurants, a movie theater, a shopping strip mall, and wall mart are all close enough to walk to with your dog. Dogs are allowed, and they also have a resident cat. I'm an animal lover, so I get along with other animal lovers. Stay here, you'll be glad you did.

I'd stay here again. The location is great for getting around, and the front desk staff were friendly. They offered me a better rate if I booked directly after I told them I'd used a third party. A cat was roaming the halls, which surprised me since I'm mildly allergic, though it was well behaved. I like cats from a distance. The room was clean where it counted, but housekeeping could dust the headboard and side tables. The bed was too hard for me, and there was only decaf coffee in the room. Those are minor gripes, so I'm still giving it five stars.

I drive trucks, and this is the best place I've seen. The people are really nice and go out of their way to help. Rooms and showers are clean, breakfast is good, everything works, and my truck was safe. Had to leave a review. BH
