Quality Inn & Suites McCook

I was here during the storm while working as an adjuster, along with many linemen helping with storm response. The main daytime front desk woman deserves credit for what seemed like running the whole hotel by herself. Still, the stay was disappointing. The towels weren't clean, and the advertised breakfast was very limited. Despite being promoted as a key feature, it wasn't available until 10 a.m. and had only waffles and bread. There was no juice or milk for cereal all week, and nobody was actively looking after the breakfast area. The front desk staff also acted unprofessionally. They wore shorts, slippers, and messy shirts instead of uniforms, and I saw them argue with linemen about coffee in front of guests. The service and amenities didn't meet expectations, especially for people there to support storm recovery.

The location was way off the beaten path, somewhere between I-70 and I-80, and it was oddly listed as a North Platte hotel. The room smelled of stale cigarettes even though it was supposed to be non-smoking, a problem since I'm allergic. The bed seemed older than my 28-year-old son. There were huge holes in the blanket and duvet, stained sheets, a dirty shower, and cracked walls. The back door was unlocked and wouldn't latch. The clerk first put me in a room that was already occupied, then had to find another one. The shampoo in the shower was empty, as were the milk, eggs, and sausage at breakfast. By the time I left, so was my soul.

Update, Jan 20, 2026: I simply wouldn't come back or do business with them again. On my stay, the service was amazing, the rooms were pretty clean, and the beds were comfortable. The blankets need replacing, though. Other than that, I really enjoyed the hotel.

The reception staff were kind, which is the only reason I'm giving three stars. The room was disappointing: the toilet was dirty and stained, there was hair in the lamp, and the sheets had visible marks. It smelled bad, and the TV didn't work.
