The Lodges at Sunset Village

Ace’s Pub was a great place to eat, and we made good use of the fridge and microwave in C46L. The cabin was cozy and clean, with hiking nearby. My kids especially loved the loft and the fireplace that was easy to light.

The cabin itself was beautiful and clean, but the trip was disappointing enough that we left a day early. Before booking, I called to check whether there was a boat ramp and whether the cabin was near the lake. I was told yes to both. There isn’t a ramp there, and the nearest one is a few miles away. Our cabin also wasn’t close to the lake.

The cabin was clean and spacious, but for that very high price it was nothing like what I pictured. We arrived late, so there was no one in the office to ask about switching cabins or getting a refund. I’d booked spontaneously and hadn’t researched it, partly because the reviews were so good. Check carefully what you’re paying for before you book. We were told it had lake and mountain views, and I imagined relaxing on a porch overlooking the scenery we’d driven through. Instead, there was one window facing the back of the next cabin and a little concrete porch. I could sit on the bench and see the lake, but nearby buildings blocked most of the view. The hot tub was squeezed between cabins, and the nearby fire pit was shared. A real letdown.

The rooms were really nice, but I couldn’t get mine cool enough for my liking.
