Wisp Resort

The staff at Wisp Resort made our family’s visit easy and enjoyable from beginning to end. Their customer service was amazing, and we felt cared for and valued the whole time. That kind of service really sets the resort apart. We can’t wait to return, and I’d highly recommend it.

Check-in staff were superb, really kind and helpful with information. The room was clean and had a decent view, and the bed was comfortable, but the thin blanket and flat pillows were a letdown. The place is dated and needs a remodel. The odd layout and old Murphy bed didn’t help, and adjusting the HVAC to get the temperature right was a bit of a project. There was also water damage in the drop-ceiling panels. The location is nice, with plenty to do and places to eat nearby. We tried the mountain coaster, chairlift, and mini golf, and there was plenty of parking plus some nice fire pits outside. We had a good stay overall, but in my opinion the room didn’t match the price.

Walking straight out to the ski slopes was the best part, and our daughters had a great time. Some seating is available near the slopes, but more would help when it’s busy. The rest of the stay was much less impressive, especially for the price. We were a family of four adults in a two-bedroom unit for two nights and three days, and space wasn’t an issue. The room felt like an old motel. Aside from the flat-screen TV, everything seemed dated: worn furniture, messy power cords, dirty carpets, and light coming in around the door and ceiling. We could hear people in the hallway and footsteps upstairs. There was a mini fridge but no microwave. At check-in, our door was propped open with the safety lock. The room was empty when we looked, but we went back to the front desk to make sure it hadn’t been double-booked. Staff said it had happened with other rooms and that housekeeping leaves doors open to show they’re ready for inspection. If so, the inspection process didn’t seem to be followed closely. Getting a luggage cart was a hassle because the cart room was far from the main entrance, and the floors were confusing to navigate. Parking was difficult too, though that seemed to be due to limited space. We skipped the on-site dining because it was extremely crowded and the lines were long. A local BBQ restaurant worked out better for us. The slope access is very convenient, but the rooms need serious renovation. Better inspections and facility updates would go a long way, especially at these prices.

Tubing was fun, but there’s only one hill and I wish there’d been more variety. The hotel should have been updated decades ago, and the pool was freezing. My kid caught a cold. The food was ugh, and the nickel-and-diming stinks too, like charging five dollars for a bowl of cereal. Go for the skiing, but make it a day trip.
