Best Western McKenzie

The room felt old and overdue for an update, especially for what they charge. I ended up cleaning it myself after the check-in experience left me unsure whether anyone cared about the cleaning. We arrived late off the highway to visit family nearby and had booked online, but still had to stand outside and call to check in. The man who answered asked for the date and my name, then hung up and came through the office door to the check-in window. He looked angry, with bloodshot eyes, and never smiled. It was cold, and he didn't invite us inside while we finished checking in.

The room was very clean, and breakfast was good. We checked in around 2 a.m., but the night manager was friendly and helpful. He also helped us find places nearby the next afternoon. The day manager was pleasant too, and fixed the charges to match the benefits on my mother's rewards account. My mother had booked the room in her name. It was a nice, affordable stay, and I'd choose this location again if we come back to the area.

My friends came from out of state for my father's funeral and booked a room here. A couple of hours after checking in, they pulled back the covers before bed and found several bed bugs. When we reported it, management didn't seem surprised.

I travel for work and usually stay in hotels for one to three nights. Melissa checked me in, I think, and she was wonderful. She answered all my questions, helped me get around the area, and was so friendly that we ended up chatting and laughing. She deserves a raise, promotion, or bonus. The rooms were nice and smelled good too. A great place to stay.
