Holiday Inn Express & Suites McKinney - Frisco East by IHG

It’s been a nice stay so far. My bed is comfy, breakfast is free and nice, and the staff are friendly and competent. The place smells amazing when you walk in. I just wish the pool were indoors, since I’m here off season. District 21 is within walking distance.

The room wasn’t ready when we tried to check in again, which was no big deal. But I don’t understand why they can’t take a credit card and precheck us in. When we returned, they said we’d been upgraded to a king disability room. That’s laughable, it isn’t an upgrade, and we’d asked for two beds. I was frustrated, but I wasn’t yelling. I explained that we needed two beds, and the front desk agent told me to calm down. Thanks, Holiday Inn, for hiring someone to tell me that. I almost wish I’d acted like a fool so at least it would have been warranted.

Both rooms were very nice and clean, and the service was pleasant. We were here for a wedding, and breakfast had lots of options, though the taste wasn’t quite there. My only other real complaint is the poor cell service, which is just the location’s fault. Free Wi-Fi helps make up for it. The room issue was frustrating: I’d booked a king standard, but when we arrived late Wednesday night, they said those rooms were sold out. I thought booking ahead meant our reservation wouldn’t be sold out from under us. Since it was late, I accepted another room. A different employee at the front desk arranged a king standard the next morning for our remaining two nights. We’d stay here again if we came back to the area.

Breakfast could use improvement. There’s plenty of potential, and I hope it’s better next time. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite hotels. I’ve stayed twice within a year, and it’s been clean, quiet, and smelled great on both visits. Nice music plays in the halls, and the staff are kind. The atmosphere is easygoing and pleasant, with restaurants within walking distance. You won’t be disappointed.
