AJ was kind and accommodating when I first checked in, and he was helpful again later. When I booked my last night, he even came by to ask if I needed anything. I also appreciated that the night clerk kept my dogs’ food and small cooler safe at the desk after I left them in the fridge. He said they were waiting for me when I called. My trouble with that clerk started when I checked out one morning. I was in a rush for work and, not realizing I’d be back that night for another three days, called hello and started around the desk to see if anyone was in the back. He came from the other direction and told me I couldn’t go back there. I understood, but I was panicking about getting to work. The next morning, at 11:02, he knocked and asked if I was leaving. Checkout had passed by two minutes, so I started gathering my things and ended up booking another night. After I checked out the following day, I came back to collect the food and cooler. I sat in my car talking with family for about half an hour, walked my dogs, then ran inside to use the restroom before driving. I waved to the clerk on my way out and said I was leaving, but he asked if I was staying another night. When I said no, he told me I couldn’t be on the property if I wasn’t staying. I know he was following the rules, but I’d already said I was leaving. It felt needlessly rude. I’ve been a hairdresser for 20 years, and customer service matters to me. In my interactions, this clerk came across as unfriendly and unprofessional. I’m from Virginia and moving back, and I’ve stayed at many Wyndham hotels without a good experience. AJ was consistently helpful and professional, but this last interaction left me with a bad impression.
I was 39 weeks pregnant in August, and my husband and I needed one pet-friendly night away from home after discovering a gas leak. Choosing this place was a big mistake. The lobby furniture was visibly dirty, but we hoped the room would be better. It smelled musty and humid as soon as we entered, and the couch was stained. Worse, multiple large bed bugs were crawling on top of the duvet and pillows. If they were visible there, I can only imagine what might be hiding in the crevices. We were disgusted, took photos and videos, and went straight to the desk to ask for a refund. The woman refused and said, “We don’t have that issue here,” then suggested people take close-up photos to get refunds. We didn’t need close-ups, we’d seen the bugs ourselves. We asked her to look, and my husband asked for the key back so we could record the room clearly and show this wasn’t a misunderstanding. There are also many reviews describing the same problem, followed by what looks like a copied hotel response without action. The lack of hospitality was appalling. This property feels like a health and safety hazard, and we’ll report it to the Texas Health Department. Save yourself the nightmare and stay somewhere else.
We’ve stayed here at least once a month to visit my husband’s kids from Austin, but after this visit we won’t be back. The daytime staff member was nice; the night clerk, who was there both nights, was rude and unprofessional. We had four family members meet us in the lobby to exchange gifts. Our four-year-old nephew played with a ball for about 20 minutes after dinner. No other guests were around, it was quiet, and he wasn’t climbing on anything or bothering anyone. The clerk came over with an attitude and told him to calm down. The next day I asked that same clerk for a plastic fork because my nephew had forgotten one for something from the convenience store. He said forks were only for breakfast and the owners got mad if he gave them to guests. I even offered to pay. Since the lobby sells food, I don’t know how people are meant to eat it without a fork. After paying over $100 a night, asking for one little plastic fork didn’t seem unreasonable. He was obnoxious and showed no customer service skills. There were other problems too. The shower drain backed up like a bath, the bathroom door was missing its towel hook, and housekeeping didn’t come during our two-night stay to replace towels, clean, or take out trash. The rooms themselves were clean, but we deserved to be treated better.
The manager, Dustin, really stood out. He welcomed us himself and checked in during the stay to make sure everything was going well. You could tell he cared about hospitality and guest satisfaction, and the team was friendly and attentive throughout. The room was immaculate and nicely designed, with a lovely view of the all-green soccer field. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. The lobby felt peaceful, breakfast on-site was thoughtful, and the central location made it easy to explore the city. This La Quinta Inn & Suites stay felt restorative, not just like a place to sleep. Thanks to Dustin and the whole team for making it memorable. We’ll be back.
We were thankful this place could take us and our dog after the nearby La Quinta messed up our reservation. The lobby was clean, they had water, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We only needed a few hours of sleep, which was fortunate because the room was disgusting. There was hair and dust on the sanitary wrap over the toilet, mold and painted-over damage in the bathroom, a toilet that kept running, and sticky floors that smelled like pee. The beds had hair on them and the sheets were stained. The chipped paint covered by an elevator sign and broken outdoor light fixtures didn’t inspire confidence either. We didn’t trust the room, and certainly weren’t going to trust the breakfast.
