Extended Stay America Suites Melbourne Airport

Someone came into my room without warning while my children were asleep. Nobody told me anyone would access the room, and I found that extremely unsettling and inappropriate. This was a nightmare of a stay, and I won't return. Service was hard to get throughout. The counter was often unattended even when I rang the bell. I tried several times to trade in my towels, then left the used ones with a note, but no replacements ever came. After failing to reach anyone again, I took two towels from a housekeeping cart. The internet never worked during my visit. When I asked about it, I was told it would only work if I paid an extra fee, although it was included in my stay. I understand renovations may be going on, but the condition was unacceptable. The elevator was fully enclosed and unusable for me. The stairs had just been painted with no ventilation, and it was hard to breathe while climbing three flights. I chose this hotel mainly for its convenient location.

The room was clean and what I expected for the price. The location was super convenient, near the airport and a few good bars. Kayla, the manager, was extremely helpful and really nice. I'd definitely stay here again.

The room itself was clean, but I wouldn't come back. There were no kitchen supplies at all, not even plates, glasses, utensils, or pots and pans. A dog barked nonstop for 90 minutes in the morning, and the shower curtain only reached the top of the tub, so water got everywhere. There wasn't an extra blanket either. The front door had no automatic opener, which made getting my luggage in and out difficult.

The staff were nice, at least. The rest was a mess. Our room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and the floors creaked so much when we walked they sounded like Squidward. My brothers got a nice room, but the layout was odd: opening the fridge accidentally turned on the stove. The oven was disgusting. I took a photo of it, but that's the only complaint you can really see clearly, since I'm no photographer and couldn't catch the sticky stuff on the floor with the light. If you're allergic to marijuana, don't stay here. We smelled it strongly at least once every night. The front desk was almost always empty, and when someone was there, they were very busy. The water was so hot, with no cold or in-between setting, that it could probably burn us if we stayed under it more than a few seconds. The vending machines are a total scam: $4 for a Coke, and the machine doesn't even work.
