La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Melbourne Viera

I spent two nights here. The room itself was good: a newly renovated room with two beds, two AC units, a clean bathroom, and a large smart TV. There weren’t many charging outlets, though. Breakfast had bagels, bread, fruit, yogurt, and waffles you could bake. For the price, things were good, but remember this isn’t a five-star hotel. The location is handy, near the motorway and surrounded by a shopping mall. You can’t hear the traffic at all. There’s a big parking lot around the hotel and a gas station out front. The staff were friendly. The entrance, elevator, and corridors didn’t look very good, and the hallway carpets were dirty. The elevator was creepy. Still, apart from those common areas, I can’t fault my room. If you want a cheap hotel in a very good location, this is a solid option.

After my flight was delayed for three hours, I was sore and hoped to relax in a bath. Instead, I found pubic hair woven into the towel on the tub ledge. It clearly wasn’t mine. I got out right away and dried off. The sheets were itchy and uncomfortable, so I couldn’t sleep well. Breakfast seemed fine while I was eating it, but later I had stomach discomfort and have felt unwell since. Check-in was unpleasant too. The man at the front desk acted like I was a bother, didn’t make eye contact, and rushed through without basic courtesy. The room had seemed acceptable at first, but these problems led me to check out early and book somewhere else. I returned on 1/30/2026 to give back the key cards, even though I’d paid through Sunday. The attendant that day was polite and said I’d have to contact the third-party booking service about reimbursement. I decided to take the loss. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had, far below an acceptable standard for cleanliness, comfort, and customer service.

The staff were great and helpful with questions and requests. The location is convenient, just off the highway, close to major stores and lots of places to eat. For a two-star hotel, it’s pretty much what you’d expect, maybe with a few extras. My king room was a good size, and the bed was very comfortable, which helped make up for the dated decor. The paint was peeling in places and the carpet could use replacing. There was a good workspace, but the outlets should be updated so plugs stay in securely. It came with a microwave and fridge, which made things easy during my 10-day stay when I bought food to store and heat. The TV had lots of channels once I figured out where the guides were. Nothing special about the room, probably on par with some three-star hotels I’ve stayed in. The building could use some TLC, especially the carpets and paint. The elevator was very slow and made me wonder if I’d get stuck, so I often took the stairs from the fourth floor, one of four floors, unless I had bags to carry. The laundry machines were decent and the app payment was handy. The fitness room was sad, just two machines and a weight stand with no weights, so I went to a local gym instead. There’s a pool, but I didn’t use it. Breakfast was the usual and nothing overwhelming, and it could get crowded when the hotel was busy. There’s nothing flashy about this place. For the price and two-star rating, you get what you pay for.

Martha, who leads housekeeping, was so caring and sweet. When we ran into a small problem, she handled it right away. Everyone was friendly, and the location worked perfectly for our travel ball tournament.
