We moved into a first-floor apartment because we didn’t want our three-year-old son running around above someone else. Nearly every night, though, our upstairs neighbor wakes us, and there’s also constant noise during the day. They have a large dog, and the sounds are almost nonstop, like kids kicking a bowling ball around their bedroom. Getting our son to bed has become a struggle. I’ve reported it to the office four times. Staff are kind and say they’ll speak to the neighbor, but nothing changes. I have emails documenting noise between 11pm and 7am, and I’ve pointed out violations of the rental agreement. Still nothing has changed. Before moving in, we asked the office about noise complaints upstairs. The staff member said they were rare, usually resolved with one visit, and that repeat problems could lead to the tenant being removed. She also said she lived in a second-floor apartment herself and rarely had noise issues because tenants were reasonable. Two weeks after we moved in, she told us the buildings are wood-framed, with no better sound insulation between floors than a typical two-story house. At first glance, the property seemed relaxing, the amenities reasonably maintained, and the rent was fair. The office staff have been courteous and helpful. But I wouldn’t choose these apartments again. The ongoing problem is the building’s poor construction and our broken sleep, and I’m not looking forward to the next eleven months.

Update: The key cards are working now. One more thing has put me off: residents get daily emails asking them to write Google reviews about the apartment complex. I moved in recently and the complex is beautiful, but after paying $1800, I spent two weeks without a working key card. I couldn’t use the amenities unless the office was open to let me in or someone else was already using them. I went to the office several times, and the problem kept getting handed to different staff. The gates have also been broken the whole time we’ve lived here, as another resident mentioned. In a way, I have to be glad they don’t work, because with broken key cards I wouldn’t be able to get into the complex otherwise. Right now, I have the same access as any stranger walking onto the property. Even though the cards work now, this has tainted my view of the complex. When you’re paying this much to live here, problems like this should be fixed immediately.

I canceled my application after management was dishonest and unclear with me. Section 6 of the lease I signed says money orders are allowed, but the office refused mine and claimed payments had to be online, even though that restriction isn’t written in the lease. When I pointed this out, the assistant manager and property manager told me they didn’t have to list restrictions in the contract. That’s unacceptable for a legally binding agreement. The leasing agent was helpful, but the two managers were dismissive and unprofessional. Only after I sent several messages to corporate did the regional manager review the lease and confirm I was right. They offered to accept the money order then, but I’d already decided to cancel and choose another community. If this is how they treat people before move-in, I can only imagine it gets worse afterward. Go somewhere else.

I moved to Trillium recently, and the apartment has been perfect so far, really spacious. The property is gorgeous, well maintained, clean, and peaceful. The staff are helpful, and maintenance is efficient, shout out to Carlos. Aura was professional, responsible, and kind, and made the move-in process smooth. I see some people saying they’re trying to take your money, but maybe read the contract, follow the rules, and avoid extra fees 😉

The renewal terms were what finally pushed me to write this. I pay around $1,850 a month for a two-bedroom, and rent has gone up every year. About 70 days before my lease ended, I got a notice giving me just 10 days to decide. The only reasonable option was an 18-month renewal, priced above my current rent. If I missed that deadline and passed the 60-day mark, they would have moved me to month-to-month at $4,500 a month, more than double what I pay now. I’ve rented at several properties and never seen a policy this extreme. If I hadn’t checked my mail in time, I’m sure I’d have been stuck paying it. The dryer has also been broken for over three months despite multiple maintenance requests. They come within 24 hours to look at it, then say they’ll have to come back. Water collects inside, so my clothes end up soaked if I don’t take them out right away. They said they’d replace it, but months have passed and nothing’s changed. Emergency maintenance has been just as bad. In the three years I’ve been here, I’ve had seven or eight emergencies, and nobody from the so-called emergency team has come when they were supposed to. The number they tell you to call goes unanswered at any hour, and problems aren’t dealt with until well into the next day. I’ve raised this with management countless times. They know it happens and do nothing. It feels like a pattern of neglect, not a one-off mistake. I’ve lived at Trillium Apartments longer than anyone else since the property was built, and I’ve found it to be one of the most poorly managed communities around. There are plenty of other issues I could get into, but I don’t have the time or energy. I hardly ever write reviews, and this may be my first, but I don’t want anyone else to go through what I have. Stay far away from Trillium Apartments. Management doesn’t respond, maintenance can’t be relied on, and the renewal terms corner tenants into paying more. There are newer, better managed places nearby with fairer prices and actual customer service. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
