Courtyard Memphis Airport

The room was so filthy that I couldn’t bring myself to sleep in the bed or use the bathroom. I stayed awake all night. There were marks on the walls, headboard, and TV, footprints in the tub, and the sheets looked dirty and unwashed. The hallways also smelled strongly of marijuana. I arrived around 1:30 AM after a long trip and found the front desk staff rude, curt, and unwelcoming. For a one-night stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Memphis Airport, this was easily the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I’ve stayed at many Marriott properties and never seen this level of neglect. Charging $240 for a room that felt this unsanitary is outrageous. This fell far below Marriott’s standards, and I expect hotel management or Marriott corporate to address it and refund me. Guests shouldn’t have to pay premium prices for rooms that clearly haven’t been cleaned or maintained properly.

We were only there overnight before an early flight, and the clean hotel was just what we needed. Our first room smelled of cigarette smoke, but they switched it right away. The bistro food was fantastic, and the staff gave excellent service. We had a great stay.

The rooms were nice enough, but the hotel’s general vibe felt kinda sus and seemed a bit pricey for the atmosphere. The front desk wasn’t staffed all the time.

After a vacation abroad, my wife and I landed in Memphis after midnight, as planned. We’d booked this Courtyard through Bonvoy (Marriott's brand) well in advance, but were told that Marriott had overbooked the hotel and given our room away. The shuttle driver said this happens frequently and that three other would-be guests had run into the same issue the previous week. Exhausted, we drove two hours to our home in Missouri. I called Marriott (Bonvoy) the next day and spoke to a supervisor, who said Courtyard was responsible for cancelling the room, not Marriott. Nobody took responsibility for giving it to someone else.
