I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. We waited in the hallway for an hour past the 3 o’clock check-in while they finished cleaning. The whole hotel smelled strongly of marijuana mixed with a musty funk. The towels in the room weren’t clean, so we brought our own sheets and bath towels, and I left them there. I sprayed disinfectant on everything and bought shower slippers because I wouldn’t stand in the filthy tub, even after cleaning it. Very unprofessional. A blind person shouldn’t stay here.

After a 23-hour drive into Memphis, things felt hopeless. I’d reserved a room at the Extended Stay of America a week ahead for December 2, 2022 to May 1, 2023, but room 204 already had someone’s belongings in it. The General Manager moved me to 214, which hadn’t been cleaned, then to 220, where the door wouldn’t open and maintenance had to be called. Since I had nowhere else to go, I was put in the room where I stayed for the rest of my reservation. One stove burner didn’t work, then the other went out too, so I couldn’t cook. I repeatedly raised it with Ms. Phylis, but nothing was done. I also had lighting problems and was scolded as if I were a nuisance. Long-term residents told me cars had been broken into because the parking lot had no lighting. It was pitch black there from the time I arrived. I only stayed because other long-term hotels were full. When I asked the desk for clean towels, the supposedly clean batch smelled like they’d been washed with no additives. The clerk said they’d been out of bleach for a week, so I started buying bleach to wash my own towels. The laundry room had no hot water either. After I told Ms. Phylis several times that I hadn’t been able to cook at home, she suggested lunch meat and crackers. There were also five people living in the room above me, making noise day and night. For two weeks I asked Ms. Phylis to move them or me because I couldn’t sleep, but she didn’t care about my situation. She only cared about rent from tenants who paid. There were no special provisions after water was shut off for four whole days, power was out for three days, a pipe burst and flooded tenants’ rooms, roaches infested the place, stoves failed, towels couldn’t be cleaned with bleach, there was no hot water in rooms or the laundry, and cars were broken into without any compassion for those affected. When it was time to evict the woman above me, she left her sink running and clogged it. Water came through the floor and flooded my room. Ms. Phylis didn’t care and just moved me. I finally booked another hotel and left. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. They need to shut that extended stay down and never reopen it.

My stay was good apart from the young manager telling me twice to turn down the sound while I was listening to my tab. Tablets aren’t that loud. He was micromanaging guests and sneaking around watching everything.

The staff are nice, but I’m here for a few weeks for work and the housekeeping situation is frustrating. They said cleaning was complimentary, yet I have to track housekeeping down every week, and when they finally show up, they barely clean. If you’re staying long term, you’re better off buying your own supplies and doing it yourself. My first room smelled of cigarettes, the TV was broken, and there was no comforter. I eventually went downstairs and got a room change.

We got a renovated room, and the location and room themselves weren’t bad. But the noise was unbearable. Kids threw sticks at the window, and the guests above us actually ran around playing basketball. I can’t believe we paid to stay somewhere where I could only be comfortable for about half the day. I went on several drives just to get away from all the stomping while on vacation. I’ve never had such a negative stay here. Very disappointed with this visit.
