Holiday Inn Express Memphis Medical Center Midtown by IHG

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Southwind recently, and had the opposite experience there: the room wasn't as described, the staff weren't helpful, and management never followed up despite two requests. Midtown Holiday Inn Express sets the standard the others should follow. It may look a little older, but it was clean and well kept, and our room matched its description. The room was quiet, the location worked well for the soccer tournament, and it was next to a hospital. Staff were accommodating, and every person we passed smiled and greeted us. We'd absolutely stay again.

The staff made our stay. They were warm and welcoming, and I slept really well while traveling on my way to San Antonio. The bed, pillows, and comforter were all top-notch, and the room had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, too. It felt like a clean, updated home away from home. Even the nicest place in town can be an awful stay if the staff aren't kind.

Rooms were on the small side, but the service was great and the hotel was conveniently close to the medical district. Zee made mornings especially nice. She was the breakfast hostess, always warm and friendly, with a real smile that helped people feel at home. She also put together a list of local restaurants and Memphis highlights, which made it much easier and more enjoyable to explore the city. Her thoughtfulness went well beyond what I expected. She's a real asset to the hotel.

The room was very good overall, and the price and location suited us well. The bed felt a little too firm for me, though I understand mattress preferences vary. The bathroom needs a new door and hinges, the tub faucet was loose, and the tub was slippery because it lacked a non-slip finish. Breakfast was very good, and Zee gave great service. We'd stay here again without a doubt.
