All I wanted was a clean place to sleep after my husband and I had been driving for 12 hours. I didn't need anything new, modern, or nice. The reviews had led me to think the negative comments came from people expecting too much from a cheap hotel. I was wrong. This was the most disgusting hotel I've ever been inside, even after traveling in developing countries. The second floor stairs had brown liquid streaks down the walls. In the room there were stains from blood and other fluids on the mattress, holes in it, black mold in the shower and bathroom, dirt on the walls, and more mold on the ceiling. It looked like a horror movie. I nearly cried because I didn't want to sleep there, but other nearby hotels were full and we were too exhausted to drive much farther. We did check the mattress and didn't find any signs of bedbugs, the one positive thing I can say.

We're staying here until Tuesday because we're hurricane Irma evacuees from Miami and had no other choice, this was the only hotel with a vacancy. They charged us $50 for our cat, even though I'd heard most hotels weren't charging a pet fee. At $70 a day, the dirty linens are frustrating. We asked for a new bedspread and pillowcase on arrival, and the replacement pillow cover had a big black blotch too. The included breakfast is just coffee, cornflakes, and sugary rolls. Bread would've been a better option. There's no iron or coffee machine in the room, and although WiFi is included, it doesn't connect, so we've been using our 4G.

The bed was comfortable, and the area was pretty quiet. I only heard two planes, and they didn't keep me from sleeping. The pictures don't do the rooms justice, though. There were white droppings on the floor and dust around the safe, plus two of the five lamps didn't work. The working ones barely lit the room, and their shades were stained. There was mold in the bathroom, the faucet and showerhead dripped badly, and the tub looked so uncleaned that I put down a towel before showering. The water never got hot in either the shower or sink. You get what you pay for here, and I don't think I'll stay again.

The second room smelled even more like smoke than the first. There were stains on the carpet, chairs, and towels, and candy and hair under the bed. The bathroom heat lamp was missing its dial, and when I used pliers to turn it on, the timer didn't work. The shower went from freezing to hot enough to burn. The room's heat never took the chill off, so I spent the night in my hoodie, coat, and jeans under the fleece blanket I travel with. I stayed in hundreds of hotels, and this was easily the worst for cleanliness and upkeep. In the first room, the heater quit about a minute after I switched it on, on a night around 27 degrees. It had tripped a breaker, which I know as an electrician. I called the desk, and someone came up ten minutes later. The free breakfast was coffee and cereal that looked stale. I won't stay here again or recommend this or any Knights Inn. If the property replies with the usual apology and promise to improve, that doesn't excuse this.

The owner says the bad reviews come from people who are mad at them, but no, they're because the place is gross. We had to get moved around until we found a halfway decent room. I read the reviews, but this was one of only two ParkStay&Fly places near the airport, and the other had worse ratings. They have no idea how to clean. I'll never use this place again.
