Charles made breakfast a highlight: everything was freshly cooked and delicious, and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms also looked clean when we arrived. The exterior is lovely, and the decor inside has some charm, but several things need attention. Our shades were dirty and difficult to pull down, and the ceiling wallpaper was peeling in places. Our room heated adequately, though several others apparently had no working heat. Our companions couldn't get much warmth from their fireplace because the wood wouldn't burn well, and we heard at breakfast that another room had only a space heater. My husband barely slept on the sagging, lumpy, creaky old mattress. The pillows seemed due for replacement too. I brought my own, which helped me sleep somewhat better. I hate leaving a poor review when everyone was so nice, but I want to be honest.

We missed breakfast because of the weather, which was a bummer, and we'd like to come back for a longer stay. We slept really well: the sheets were cozy and the pillows and blankets were comfortable. My husband and I usually miss our bed at home when we travel, but this one was great. The staff were welcoming, and there's an adorable little dog who greets you at the door. It's a beautiful, very old Victorian house. The dated decor and other signs of age give it a homey feel rather than making it seem sterile.

The house is a heritage building from the 1880s, and our room around the back reflected its age while still being comfortable. The owner and innkeepers were super nice. Breakfast was hearty and vegan on both days we were there, though I don't know if that's always the case. A pretty good place to stay if you enjoy a historic feel.

The location made it easy to walk into town and down to the water, and we loved the charming, character-filled rooms. Everyone working there was so sweet. Our fireplaces were ready to use, breakfast was delicious, there was live music, and an adorable puppy too. We'll be back!

The room was large and lovely, with an absolutely divine bed, and the location in Mendocino is great. I didn't get to try breakfast, but it was still a nice stay. There was a pot smell when I arrived that lingered into the morning. A few locals later told me it's a weed-friendly place, which didn't surprise me. So if that's what you're looking for, this is a weed-friendly B&B that's dog-friendly too. The bathroom could use an upgrade. It wasn't the cleanest, and the age felt more plain old than charming. There's a shower and a separate jacuzzi tub. I didn't use the tub, but did spot a dead bug that had met its end in the big jacuzzi. The wood-burning fireplace was great, though I don't know how people managed it back in the day. It's romantic to have a fire going at bedtime, but I woke up feeling like I'd smoked 10 cigarettes, even though I don't smoke. Use it sparingly.
