We keep coming back for the setting. The views are spectacular, and this quiet part of the island feels wonderfully low-key. It’s rustic, but clearly cared for, with well-equipped kitchens. Menemsha town is an easy walk over the boardwalk and dunes.

We stayed in the carriage house and were really happy with it. The rooms are beautiful, and there’s a fitness center and tennis courts. It’s a lovely, quiet area for a getaway, and the staff went out of their way to make things work for guests.

The water views were lovely, and the cottage felt quiet and tucked away. It was just the right size for two, had everything we needed, and even came with an outdoor shower. We had one frustrating interaction with an employee, Virginia, who wasn’t accommodating or hospitable. The manager followed up with us well, though, and I’d definitely return for a relaxing weekend.

The grounds were a highlight, from the green lawns and flower beds to the path past the chickens and cows, through the bamboo, and along a wooden trail to Menemsha Beach. There’s a lot to explore around the property. The main building has a game and reading room, plus there’s another game room with ping pong, a fitness center, and an outdoor shower. At the sister property, The Beach Plum, guests can get complimentary continental breakfast from 8-10 am. We arrived by bike about five hours before check-in. Virginia greeted us warmly, wished us a happy anniversary, lent us towels and a Lucy Vincent beach pass, and pointed out the narrow roads and where to be careful. Our room was ready two hours early. On arrival, we found a pair of swans, beautiful flowers, and a box of delicious local chocolates waiting for us. The room’s simple style and the water view from our private deck were lovely. Coming down the tree-lined path to the inn made it feel special from the start. There are lots of accommodation options for easygoing travelers. It was our first stay, and we’ll be back. It felt like a little piece of paradise, and I hope to return soon since they’re open until the end of October.

It’s peaceful here, and there’s a fun trail down to the water. The rooms are roomy, and the staff were friendly and somewhat apologetic about the repairs needed. Still, several things in my room needed fixing: the screen door was off its hinges, the faucet leaked, and the phone didn’t work. With no cell signal, we couldn’t count on either the internet or a landline. It was a rustic stay, so you can be comfortable if you’re not expecting luxury. Breakfast was served every day, but the menu didn’t change.
