Comfort Inn & Suites Meriden East

The place was disgusting, and I couldn't even eat at the buffet because the weed smell was so strong. At 8 in the morning the hallways reeked of it, and I couldn't tell whether a guest in the lobby or the front desk staff had just smoked. The beds barely had a blanket, the lights were just exposed bulbs without covers, and I had to bring the smoke alarm down to the desk to get its battery replaced.

I might use it again if I had to. The evening front desk staff were nice, the room was clean, and the water pressure was great. There's truck parking behind the hotel and food nearby. Some people hang around, and a few seem to live there, but nobody bothered me or my truck. The floors smelled strongly of smoke and marijuana.

We booked a nonsmoking room for one night, but the whole floor smelled of cigarette smoke and our room was especially bad. There was hair all over the bed, and it was obvious the bedding hadn't been changed. They moved us after we complained, but it still wasn't a good experience. I wouldn't recommend it.

The staff at the front desk were kind and accommodating, but the hotel's cleanliness was a huge letdown, and we won't return. We came from Canada to Connecticut for a wedding, our first time in the area. The first room smelled strongly of smoke, so they moved us promptly to room 408. It was somewhat better, but still dirty: there was a clump of hair on the bed, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, and dust set off my allergies. There wasn't a TV remote either, so we had to ask the desk for one. Breakfast was questionable, especially the oddly textured eggs, which didn't agree with me. Luckily, there was a Dunkin' right across the street. The hotel needs a serious deep clean.
