I paid full price for the room, which wasn't an issue. The front desk told me to let them know before noon the next day if we needed another night, and we did. Then staff spoke badly about both me and my friend, and tried to be sneaky about it. Suddenly the room wasn't available, and there was no discount for extra nights or for the circumstances: my friend's family member was in a nearby hospital after being beaten almost to death by her ex. As someone who has survived domestic abuse, I'm disgusted. This place shows no care for people facing domestic abuse or assault, or for patients at nearby hospitals. I don't recommend it.

The staff made a tough stay much easier while I recovered from a broken ankle, and Charity was the main reason we chose Candlewood over cheaper options. She explained extended stays clearly, arranged an accessible room, and made sure a wheelchair and shower chair were available. She was friendly and straightforward throughout. The room worked well for two people. There was lots of storage and USB outlets in the bedroom, a comfortable bed with a TV, and a roomy living area with a recliner, sleeper sofa, and desk. WiFi was easy to use and fairly fast. The kitchen had two burners, a full-size fridge, dishwasher, big pantry, coffee maker, and toaster, but no oven. The accessible bathroom had grab bars and a large step-free shower. The water got hot and lasted, though the pressure was low. Our room was at the end of a very long hall, with parking nearby, but getting over the curb was hard with my ankle. They do have a wheelchair to help guests reach their rooms. A wheelchair-accessible way to park closer to room 144 would help. There was unlimited coffee in the lobby, plus packaged snacks and food for sale. Laundry was free, though you need to bring detergent. Housekeeping was polite and helpful, the room was quiet and felt safe, and the location was easy to get in and out of. Candlewood made our time in Meridian bearable until I could travel again.

The hotel itself was nice and the staff were friendly, but the manager's handling of our departure was awful. We paid for a couple of days two days before leaving instead of the usual full week, and told them we'd let them know if we needed to extend. Staff said goodbye as we left, so they knew we were checking out. A week later we were charged for six extra days. The manager said they hadn't known we'd left, the hotel was fully booked, and they couldn't afford to lose the money because we hadn't formally checked out. We got no call or other message during that following week. Now we're being charged more than $600 for what seems like their own mistake. How can a hotel let someone stay past checkout without paying for even an hour, let alone six days? The manager should reconsider working in hospitality without basic customer service skills.

Jose from maintenance and Rielly at the front desk were especially helpful, going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Everyone we met on staff was friendly. We liked the free coffee and fruit in the common area, complimentary laundry machines and dryers, and plenty of free parking. The hot tub was a relaxing end to the day, and the gym had what we needed for a good workout. Candlewood Suites Boise-Meridian is handy for shopping and restaurants, with easy highway access too. We had a great stay and would happily return for a short or longer visit.
