SureStay Hotel by Best Western Meridian

The highway location is convenient and there's truck parking, but the good points stop there. The rooms are very basic and old, with stained linens and only a minimal level of cleaning. The room phone had no dial tone, which is a huge safety concern. Breakfast was so limited it was laughable. For what we paid, I guess it wasn't awful, but we wouldn't choose it again. They claim this is a 3-star hotel, but to me it's 2 stars at best.

The room itself was disgusting. There were cigarette butts on the floor, stains and mold all over the bathroom, and stained bedding. I have photos. On top of that, the front desk staff were rude and dismissive, and one even asked me to leave. I booked a King Bed room online at a promotional rate, but they tried to make me pay another $20 when I arrived, saying the "cheapest" rate meant I'd get a smoking room unless I paid, even though my reservation clearly listed my room type. I have lifelong asthma, so being pushed into a smoking room is a serious health hazard, not just a preference. I had a terrible stay, and this bait-and-switch pricing and poor service are unacceptable. Save your money and go somewhere that values cleanliness and basic customer service.

The front desk was pleasant. I didn't stay for breakfast, but it sounded like the basics: coffee, toast, and dry cereal. The main lot was well lit, though the rooms are dated. The bathroom was only somewhat clean, the shower was mediocre, the vent hadn't been cleaned, and the sink water barely trickled. It smelled like old urine in there. The room doors open to the outside, so bugs get in. I had to kill three mosquitoes before bed. A train about half away could be heard at night, and someone's kids were running around the parking lot fairly late. For a bit over $70, it didn't feel worth it. We decided at the last minute to stay here, and it turned out to be a very good choice. The rooms were clean, and the staff were really nice. They have a cute patio where you can smoke or just sit. It was a fun stay, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.
