Wagon Wheel Restaurant Bar and Motel

We felt right at home while staying here to visit Powderhorn Resort for Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals. The restaurant and motel are both great, the food is delicious, and the staff are always friendly and accommodating.

I wish I’d stopped in sooner. The drive up to the Mesa is beautiful, and the food is down-to-earth home cooking. I had lunch two weeks ago and ordered chicken tenders and white bean chicken chili. The chicken was fresh, breaded to order, piping hot, and juicy. The chili was thick and rich, with lots of fresh flavor. I also saw a catfish coming out of the kitchen that was so big it took up most of a large oval plate. Sorry, I didn’t take a picture of the menu.

We loved lunch here today, and we’ll be back. The kids found plenty of choices they liked, and the fries are so good they work on their own. It would be nice if they came with the burger, but you get a generous amount with your order. There’s a cowboy classic feel to the place, from the fresh-cut fries to the huge burger menu.

Valerie is always professional and kind, and she never misses a detail. We don’t have to ask for refills, and the other wait staff have been just as good. The restaurant is well staffed, our food arrives promptly, and it’s always fresh and delicious. The cooks are excellent, too, and the place is consistently clean.
