It’s not fancy, but you get a great deal for the price. The rooms are clean and the hotel feels safe, with what looks like on-site security. We stayed one night in late February. The hot tubs were great, though the pools aren’t heated. My kids still played in them for a couple of hours in the morning. Check-in and checkout were quick and easy. For checkout, you just leave the cards in the room.

The room was clean, the air conditioning worked, and the bed was comfortable. For $40, I guess I have to admit it’s decent value, though begrudgingly. I’d have given it two stars if there’d been a fridge and microwave like at other two-star motels. No such luck. This is an extremely basic place with nothing fancy inside. From the street, it looks like an old-school Vegas motel with neon and flashing lights. There’s a huge amount of parking, including a truck lot across the street, and it’s maybe a five-minute walk to the rooms. The three-story buildings have rooms opening onto outdoor concrete hallways, with all the foot traffic noise that comes with them. Plenty of other two-star motels have moved to carpeted indoor hallways and can call themselves hotels. One star!

I was worried about the food at our client appreciation dinner, since I’d never had much luck with restaurants at the Virgin River. But the catering team at their events center, the tent, really came through. The Italian buffet is highly recommendable. The fish was cooked perfectly, which is hard to do, and the manicotti and sides were excellent. I’ve been sugar-free for 39 days, yes, I’m counting, so I didn’t try dessert, but it all looked divine. The tasteful table decorations and great service made the event a welcome experience for my clients. Mary Bundy Insurance will make this an annual event. Thank you, Virgin River catering!

I normally keep to myself, but after what happened today, I can’t. I come to this establishment often and have always loved it. Customers bring dogs of all breeds, and I’m fine with that. Today a man with a pit bull was told to take his dog out of the building because it was supposedly a trip hazard for people walking. I understand the reasoning, but there was also a poodle lying in the aisle. The pit bull was sleeping and wasn’t a threat to anyone. I asked if I could pet him, and he was the sweetest dog. This was shameful. Then a different man came inside wearing only a bath robe. That was more offensive than a dog.

I prepaid and arrived at 8pm on Christmas evening. Our first room had a blown bathroom bulb and a toilet that wouldn’t flush properly. We chose the ground floor because my mom is ADA. We left early for Brianhead, then came back looking forward to a hot shower, but the faucet was faulty. My husband nearly got electrocuted using the hair dryer, with sparks flying. Before breakfast the next morning, we told the front desk and were moved to a room at the back, up stairs. The bathroom vanity and closet area smelled like vomit as soon as we walked in. Gross. They moved us again after we packed up. The next room was decent, but by then we didn’t feel appreciated. With all the room changes, we lost items. I contacted housekeeping and got hung up on. She said we were disconnected but didn’t call back. Eventually I reached someone, and they had to search for our things. They said they found them in a linen closet with no room number or name, whatever. They took my name, address, and credit card details, then told me the minimum charge to ship the items. I got hung up on again. Three weeks later, no one has called or followed up. At this point, they should pay to return my things. I’ll stick with Hilton or stay across the street at the Eureka from now on. At least they’re friendly and make you feel appreciated. Honestly, this felt like a Motel 6 with a casino on the property.
