Boxwood Lodge Blowing Rock Near Boone-University

I’ve stayed twice and been satisfied both times. The rooms are good and well priced, and several restaurants and shops in downtown Blowing Rock are within half a mile.

The vase was dirty, and the coffee maker, microwave, and mini-fridge were stacked on top of each other. Take care when opening the mini-fridge. The heater is so noisy it makes sleeping impossible.

The front porch rocking chairs were a nice touch, and coffee in the lobby was appreciated. The hotel is in an awesome location, under a 10-minute walk from historic downtown, and the area felt safe even at night. The grounds and landscaping were pretty and well maintained. Staff were friendly and hospitable. Our room and bathroom were clean, with plenty of towels, plus a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. The shower had great pressure and stayed hot for a while. The bed was large, but the mattress was uncomfortable and the pillows weren’t great. The toilet flushed slowly, the shower curtain let water spread across the floor, and there was a large, unidentified stain on the chair. There wasn’t a continental breakfast or room service, and the ice machine was inconveniently located. We had a great stay and would definitely return, though there’s room for improvement.

Everything is within walking distance, which makes this a great place to stay while enjoying the Blowing Rock area. The local shops, coffee spots, bars, and breweries are excellent. On Friday evenings, head down to the Ragged Gardens for Music on the Lawn. It’s also a good choice for bikers who want to be near the parkway and away from the congestion of App State campus.
