Hampton Inn Metairie

Conveniently located for restaurants, shopping, and local attractions, this Hampton Inn Metairie worked well for our stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well kept, with what you need to relax. Staff were friendly and attentive, and check-in and checkout were easy. Breakfast was included and tasty. I’d recommend it for work trips or a leisure visit.

Hilton Honors eventually refunded us after I contacted them directly, and I appreciated that. The whole problem began when the app apparently made two reservations, which I only noticed after two charges appeared on our card. We were an hour from the hotel and I mistakenly thought we could sort it out when we arrived. The evening clerk was kind but said she couldn’t handle it, and would leave a printout for the evening manager. The next morning another clerk said she’d make sure the manager saw it later. That afternoon the assistant manager also said he wasn’t authorized, and told me only the general manager could help. We were checking out the next morning, so I wanted an answer before leaving. He said he’d emailed her and would follow up that evening, but we heard nothing. The next morning, a fourth person saw notes on the account and said she’d print them for the manager. We waited a week, then called. The voicemail was full. I called again the following day, and the man who answered said he’d pass along my number. I had to ask if he needed my name too. No one called back, but an email to the general manager did get a response. None of the four people we spoke with on site reviewed the cancellation policy with us. Two said other guests had experienced the same app problem. It seemed obvious that a couple travelling together didn’t need two rooms, but the manager refused to refund anything. The slow response and poor service were very disappointing. When Hilton looked into it, we learned that the clerk who checked us in had checked us into both rooms. She also said she’d seen this app issue before and was very apologetic. That added another complication to how Hilton handled the refund.

The room smelled musty, the property looked worn down, and it didn’t feel like the Hilton standard we’re used to. Carla, the attendant who says she’s the hotel manager, has been rude and unhelpful more than once and has tried to stop my family from checking in. This time my son arrived before me while I was still at the job site. Instead of dealing with it professionally, she was dismissive and did everything she could to keep him from checking in, even though we stay with Hilton often and have never had trouble at another location. She acts as if she doesn’t want guests there. I won’t stay at this Hampton Inn in Metairie, LA again. If Carla really is the manager, Hilton needs to reconsider who it puts in charge. Guests deserve better than that attitude and an outdated, musty hotel.

Comfortable rooms, a good choice of breakfast items, and waffles you make yourself. The location is nice with easy interstate access. Parking is spread over three levels, with access to the first three floors from the deck. I’d recommend this place.
