Roaches were a huge problem. My husband and I bought poison ourselves and treated the room every three days. Orkin only came to our side of the hotel once a month, and didn’t seem useful. We booked a premium room, but the mattresses were torn apart and held together with a mattress cover. When we took the covers off to wash them, the mattresses basically fell apart. They provide nothing but bed linen, and our request for replacements went nowhere. I found a sack of cocaine or heroin, I don’t know which, on the outside railing while walking to the store, where a child could reach it. Police were there for issues every week. The front office staff need better attitudes; maintenance and house cleaners were much more polite. There’s no system for lost and found, and the elevator breaks every three months. Terrible place to stay, even for a day. Spend a little extra somewhere better, because this isn’t it.

For $270 a week for a double bed, this is probably the best deal in the city. The room has a full-size fridge, two electric burners, large storage cabinets, a dresser with cubbies, and a folding dining table with two nice chairs. The flat screen tilts left or right, so you can watch while cooking. There are a lot of channels, including SHOWTIME 2, SHO Family Zone, NFL Network, ESPN, CNN, HGTV, and many more. It’s close to everything: a 30-second walk to Brothers gas station, two minutes to a restaurant, tacos, and four bars or lounges, three minutes by car to Target, and one minute to I-10. Laundry is on site, open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. with key-card access and cameras, no coins needed. There’s an elevator. The office staff are super friendly, and the office is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., closed Sundays. Onsite maintenance is good after hours if you lock yourself out. Maid service is once a week and changes linens, but not towels. The AC and heat blow cold and hot, the shower water is hot, and there are two sinks. Rooms and outdoor areas are well lit and covered by cameras; security guards also wander around at random, so it feels very safe and secure. Bring your own cleaner, dish soap, bath soap, laundry detergent, dishes, and frying pans. Wi-Fi is free, but you need internet and an email to log in.

The rooms were very affordable, and I had a great experience. Management was great and always took care of my requests. I’d recommend booking here if you’re trying to save money and build funds toward a permanent solution in your life.

About two months in, and I still haven't had any problems. Everyone on the staff has been great: Tara, Lexi, Chanell, Kory, Michael, and India. I'd definitely recommend it.
