Avoid this place. The refrigerator didn’t work, the windows were screwed shut, and the bathroom door wouldn’t close. It faced the parking lot, so there was no privacy. The ice machine had cobwebs and no ice, and the TV only got two movie channels. They entered our room without warning. My husband wasn’t dressed and spoke up, but they kept coming in and sprayed something to cover the moldy smell. The next day they banged on the door like police and wanted me to let them in. I refused. We’d asked and paid for queen beds, but got full-size beds that felt like concrete. They also said they hadn’t received our reservation and tried to charge us more.

The staff were rude, the place was rundown and overpriced, and there were bed bugs. The TVs were small, and the beds were so soft my back was wrecked by morning. Everywhere else was booked that night, so I had no choice but to shower, sleep, and get out of that Hills Have Eyes place in Mexia, TX.

I pay $45.00 a night for a one bedroom, and you get what you pay for, but that doesn’t make it okay to have rude staff banging on my door at 9am to clean the room when checkout is at 11am. I’d like the owner to show me more respect. The beds are very hard and the pillows are thin. It’s not a place I’d bring children. That’s how it is, and I’m not going to sugarcoat it.

It was peaceful, and I enjoyed staying there for a good price. The place is old, with rugged sink fixtures that reminded me of camping at the farm. My great grandfather built this motel many years ago, and the new owner bought it from my grandfather about 42 years ago. He’s a nice man, and the prices are cheap.

The old owner never changed anything, but the new people are trying to change everything. Prices keep going up every other week. A night that used to cost 45 is now 60, and a month that was 800 is now 960. There are major roach and mouse problems and constant water issues. When something goes wrong, they jump down your throat and blame you for it. Horrible all around.
