Beach Place Hotel

The mold smell was so persistent that we still couldn’t get it out of our things after several washes, vinegar soaks, and leaving baking soda on them. Even items that don’t usually absorb much, like a plastic comb, toothpaste tube, and floss container, smelled of mold. We don’t recommend staying unless you’re prepared to throw away what you brought or the hotel fixes the mold problem. There were a few positives: plenty of free parking, which is hard to find in Miami, friendly front desk staff, and early check-in. Our first room had broken curtains, but they changed rooms without fuss. The location is only a block from the beach, despite the listing suggesting the hotel is on the beach. There’s no beach view, so the pictures are misleading. The coffee was among the worst we’ve had. Wolfgang “Yuck” would suit the brand better.

My room was decent, and the beach is two blocks away. I was in Miami during a winter cold snap, and the room got cold at night since those Miami hotels don’t have heat. Bring an electric blanket in winter. 🥶

Free parking was a big plus, and North Beach is just steps away. The staff also gave us beach towels, an umbrella, and chairs at no charge, which was so nice. The pool was great, the rooms were clean, and the staff were helpful. It’s good value, especially compared with the higher prices farther south. South Beach is about 30 minutes away, which was manageable for us. Highly recommend.

I probably wouldn’t stay here again, though the price does match the quality. The room was spacious but dated and needs renovating. The carpet looked very worn and seemed like it might be behind the wet-dog smell that came after the cleaning-product odor faded. The wall pictures were dusty or dirty, and the bed was very hard. The blankets were rough and paper thin. We were here for a couple of days after a cruise, hoping to be near the beach. It’s not close to the port. A friendly desk attendant got us an early check-in, and the hotel offers beach towels and chairs, though the rain kept us from using them. The pool looked clean and well maintained, but rain kept us out of it too. There isn’t much food within a mile in either direction, so without a rental car you’ll need delivery or an Uber.
