Casa Sofi

We had seven hours between checkout and our trip to the airport, and they kindly let us leave our luggage at their other hotel, Casa Ocean, so we could explore Miami longer. The location is great, within walking distance of Miami Beach and South Beach. Our room was comfortable and clean. They also provided beach towels and complimentary chairs at Miami Beach, which we really appreciated.

Casa Sophi Hotel has a clean, fun feel, stylish decor, a great location within easy walking distance of South Beach, and beach chairs are a nice bonus. Still, I’d call it an Airbnb dressed up as a hotel, with zero amenities, and their website doesn’t make that clear. There’s no front desk or concierge, and housekeeping is minimal. They clean the room and restock towels only about twice a week, which isn’t what most people expect from a hotel. If you know it’s self-service and adjust your expectations, it can work. A solid experience, but not an amazing one.

The street was quiet, and the place was super clean and easy to access. I loved those parts, and it was easy to reach staff when I needed them. But the walls are paper thin. People above me stomped around from 1 to 5 a.m. for three nights, and I didn’t sleep. It wasn’t really the property’s fault, but I probably won’t return. I wish they’d add more insulation or warn guests.

No front desk, so service problems can crop up over the phone. The rooms feel small, the walls are paper thin, and the showers can struggle to get hot. Still, the South of Fifth location is excellent, just steps from the beach and nightlife, and the rooms are clean. Free Wi-Fi and beach chairs are included. Worth considering if location is your main priority, but keep expectations in check.
