The apartment was a cave, with no ceiling lights and only a couple of weak lamps. The mattresses were thin, cheap, and painful, the bathroom door was hanging off its screws and slammed noisily whenever we tried to close it, and there was a dead cockroach by the bunk bed. The online photos made the amenities look much better than they were. At checkout, the host/cleaner was banging on the door at exactly 10:00 AM to make us leave, even though we'd already been left waiting outside for 30 minutes when we arrived. We got a message asking for a five-star review and telling us to speak to the host before posting anything negative. That says plenty. All four of us agreed this was a scam dressed up with pretty pictures. Avoid it unless you want to be lied to, ripped off, and treated like trash. We arrived at 1:30 AM with no access codes and were left outside trying desperately to reach the host. Hours later, he emailed the codes and mentioned there should be a FOB inside, warning us it would cost $250 if lost. There was no FOB anywhere in the apartment. Exhausted at 2 AM, we had to email again just to make sure we wouldn't be charged for something that wasn't there.

That construction is unbelievably loud, like it's happening right inside the room. I measured it at 90 decibels.

The beach is really close, and the room was clean with a layout I liked. There's also a 24-hour restaurant next door with good drinks, which we enjoyed. My boyfriend and I are in our early 20s, so maybe our standards aren't very high, but we had a good stay. The place is cute and clean, even if it's not fancy. The hallways smell like smoke, the building feels outdated, and the basement is a bit dingy. I noticed the elevator inspection had expired almost two years ago, though the elevator seemed to work fine. Paid laundry is available on-site. If you want something upscale, this isn't it, but I enjoyed it despite the quirks.

We were left standing with our luggage and nowhere to stay for the night. The host, Roxanne, wasn't there to meet us and never answered my calls or texts. The building smelled awful, too. In the end we gave up and found somewhere else. We were asked to pay in advance and never got our money back. Such a disappointment. This place is a scam. Do not rent it through BOOKING.COM or AIRBNB.

There are some good people around the building. But if you're coming here for the water and beaches, understand there are ups and downs to staying in this area, so know what you're getting into. Honestly, do you want my real opinion? It could've been a one or two star review.
