The Tides South Beach

The lobby is beautiful, and the private rooftop deck has amazing, unobstructed views. Since it’s the tallest building on south beach, you can see far and wide. I also love the hotel layout, which gives every room an ocean view. The location is great, and the staff are extremely friendly. They’re expanding the hotel, though I only learned that when I went looking for the construction. There was no noise to be heard. Can’t wait to see it when it’s done!

Our eighth-floor bedroom was huge, thanks to an upgrade through Tablet Plus, and everything was super clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The beds were incredibly comfortable, too. We expected some street noise and the loud club next door after reading reviews, but it was even louder than anticipated. Still, it wasn’t a problem for us. We brought earplugs but surprisingly didn’t need them, perhaps because we were so tired at day’s end and sank right into the beds. We loved our stay at The Tides. The building’s Art Deco bones and some lobby furniture are historic and beautiful, while the rest of the interior design is contemporary by a famous designer. The bedrooms have been completely remodeled as ocean-front suites. The sophisticated decor carries through the entry, lobby, and bedrooms, with gorgeous ocean and beach views. It’s right in the heart of action-packed South Beach, an elegant atmosphere with plenty happening nearby. We received a coupon for a couple of free cocktails, redeemable anytime during our stay, and a breakfast credit. You could have the drinks at the lovely lobby bar/restaurant or chic terrace, which was great for people-watching. The setting was super nice and the food good, though not great. Service was average, neither spectacular nor horrible. The complimentary beach service was nice too, with a beach butler setting up lounge chairs, towels, and an umbrella. I never even saw the pool in back. We were only there a couple nights, and the ocean’s mesmerizing blues kept our attention out front. I’d definitely stay again, especially at a good rate like we got. We wouldn’t stay longer than 2-3 nights, since the loud, bustling scene isn’t really our thing, but it’s a fun change of pace once in a while.

We went in during happy hour and ordered seared scallops, which were divine, along with delicious drinks. The interior decor was beautiful too. It was nice to sit in the open air without booming music blasting in our ears, and the whole place felt very sophisticated.

For our fifth anniversary, my husband and I had a very pleasant stay at the Tides. The price didn’t break the bank, and the service was great. We got a welcome cocktail and a generous 25% discount on food and beverages. Every room has an ocean view, and ours didn’t disappoint. The hotel is in the heart of south beach, with virtually everywhere we wanted to go within walking distance. I’d definitely stay again if we come back to Miami.
