Miami Gardens Inn & Suites

When all the flights were cancelled and last-minute rooms were going for $1500, Miami Gardens Inn was still under $100. It wasn't spotless, but it was clean enough for me. The front desk was friendly and quick, checkout was easy, and the towels, sheets, pillows, shampoo, and soap were all there. It's no five-star hotel, but you pay a lot more for that. Given the crunch I was in, I'd have no concern about coming back. Some one-star reviewers expect champagne while booking on the cheap.

We ended up sleeping in our car because the room made us so uncomfortable. The front desk woman was rude and disrespectful at check-in, and the whole property smelled bad. In the room the mold smell was strong, the sheets looked used, and the carpet was ripped and filthy. Black grease stuck to our feet if we walked on it without shoes. The bed felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that it seemed like it could cause back pain. The dirty bathroom smelled horrible, and nothing worked in the room, including the lights and TV. We asked for at least a partial refund because of the conditions, but they refused. The hotel also seems to be getting lots of suspicious five-star reviews every day that look paid or fake. I'll be reporting it to Google. Don't stay here.

Grethel helped us, and her kindness and willingness to lend a hand meant a lot. She was knowledgeable and had excellent customer service skills. She reminded us there are still people with genuine hearts who help without a hidden agenda. We need more Grethel in this generation. Definitely recommend.

The TV did work, but it would shut off by itself or lose its connection after a few minutes. There was no hot water and the water pressure wasn't acceptable. Sitting outside on the “balcony” felt like you could be robbed or stabbed at any moment. And they want a deposit? Are you insane? Fix this hotel, or just tear it down. It's a complete dump and the worst temporary lodging I've ever had to visit.
