Bohemian 1Br in Coconut Grove by Sonder

This is one of my five favorite hotels in the country, even though I usually don't care for Courtyards, and I stay at them often for work. I come to Miami several times a year and this is my go-to. The views are beautiful, the neighborhood is peaceful and walkable, with lots to do. The pool area is great and the bar is exceptional compared with other Courtyard properties. Staff are friendly, and many have worked here for years. They take great care of me.

Alejandro at the front desk was so kind and helpful, and handled every request we had without any trouble. The rooms and shared areas were clean, which matters to us. The location is ideal, away from South Beach and within walking distance of Cocowalk, with its calm atmosphere, lovely shops, and restaurants. Crandon Beach is also worth a visit, about a 10 minute drive.

We were freezing during our stay. My wife and I were on the 11th floor, with a great room and views, but it was 65F inside and the glass was wet with condensation. I set the thermostat to heat, but it didn't work. When I called the front desk, they said the hotel doesn't have heating and told me to turn the thermostat off. I know Miami is warm and winter isn't as warm as summer, but I was shocked that a Courtyard by Marriott had no heating system. The blankets weren't ready for winter either. I wouldn't fairly grade the rooms or service on this alone, but the experience was far from enjoyable.

The rooms were comfortable, though the bathroom felt too small for two. The harbour is conveniently close, but the centre is about a 10 min walk away. The pool is okay, though some green trees would make the area feel nicer. The hotel has a modern look, but the atmosphere felt a bit cold, and the elevators can be tricky to use.
